Motherhood is my ministry.

God chose Mary to be the mother of Jesus. Imagine the weight she must have felt knowing that she was raising the one who would save humanity from sin. I think about that often as I feel overwhelmed with certain aspects of motherhood.

I am doing my first Advent Bible study. I love The Daily Grace Co. and use their studies/resources often. The first introduction of the study sends us to Luke 1:30 "Then the angel told her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High..."

I often think about why God picked Mary to be Jesus's mom. I like to believe it's because He holds moms in the highest respect. The Bible mostly talks about men, but Mary has a super special part. She was ready to follow God's plan at every point in her and Jesus's life. She showed the kind of faith that's inspirational for Christian moms. Looking back on my path to becoming a mom, it's been a mix of grief, and grace. But it's during those tough times that I've really turned to Jesus. Motherhood is where I truly see and feel His presence the most.

If I could wish for one thing as a mom, it would be this: for Luci to look back at her childhood and see me walking hand in hand with Jesus. I want her to know that life has its ups and downs, and through it all, I lean on Him. I want to show her that HE is the way. I'm not perfect and will make mistakes, needing forgiveness. But I hope she never doubts my love for her and my love for Jesus.

What is your wish of motherhood? Tell me in the comments.
